The Taikoo Li on the Bund project is located in the riverside area of the southern section of the Huangpu River, an important part of it and a key development area for Shanghai’s urban core functions in the post-Expo period. The architectural design draws inspiration from nature, and the lighting design emphasizes this relationship between nature and light, so that walking in the inner street is like walking in nature, and all the lights are so natural and comfortable; as we look down on the whole site, each single entity is like a stream of rocks separated by the natural wash of the river over time, and the circular white ribbon facade conceals the setting of light outlines, and the light penetrating from the building recesses The rhythm and tenderness of the water flow is reflected.

The N1 monolith on the northernmost side of the project reaches a height of 40 meters, which is the high point of the whole complex. Continuous lights surround it, winding down from the top to the bottom, imprinting the natural sensation of a clear spring flowing on the stone, and layers of light and shadow rippling out connect the southern and northern areas, organically integrating the natural elements of wood, stone and water.

The lamps and lanterns used in this project are all LED high luminous efficiency lamps and lanterns, set a circle around the building LED light belt, combined with the sunset time to set the night on time and length, set in the public area of the site in the function of lamps and lanterns, in the selection of more than with dimming function lamps and lanterns, so that can be considered in the daytime sunny days, daytime cloudy days and different situations at night, in conjunction with the lighting control system can be achieved in time, sub-regional precise control of light control, so as to achieve energy-saving effect.

The signature design language of the facade of Taikoo Li on the Bund is the circular white ribbon of GRC called “White Ribbon”, a horizontal texture that extends inside and outside the business. The light grooves in the GRC material after preforming in one piece also encountered a considerable challenge in the realization process. It is necessary to consider the error of GRC after forming, and it is necessary to confirm the final shape only after many times of proofing and trial installation, and then it is with this curved shape that we choose to use a flexible light strip to achieve this effect.
